My Time here

'I like the what I am doing at Beautiful Kidz when I have to choose what I like the most then I choose the youth and kids clubs. I like the youth and kids clubs because the children are older. As a result of that you can talk about more things. One Thursday after the teaching we went into small groups. That was very interesting, because the teenagers were so open in the small groups compared to the bigger group. We talked about the influence of your choices, how you see yourself now and, how you see yourself in the future.'

Is Beatiful Kidz the same organisation as Beautiful Gate?

Beautiful Kidz Namibia was part of Beautiful Gate Ministries International from 2003 till November of 2007.

The ministry to children in need was established in 1994 by a Dutch couple, Toby & Aukje Brouwer. They experienced God's heart for children in need and made it their mission to establish an organisation that focused on improving the quality of life of chilren in need and their families; and to show the love of Jesus Christ through practical assistance. The Brouwers and many other Beautiful Gate staffmembers were part of Youth With A Mission (YWAM).
In November 2007 Beautiful Gate Ministries International decided to move away from YWAM. The ministy in Namibia stayed part of YWAM and became Beautiful Kidz.

Beautiful Kidz Namibia and Beautiful Gate International continue to have good relationship.

What would my daily responsiblities be?
You would be helping with the everyday running of the Beautiful Kidz centre, from helping to cook the meals for the children to cleaning and helping with their play times. You would also help with the Youth programs including, homework classes and Youth Clubs and Youth evenings during the week.

Would I get any time off?
Most weekends you are free to go into town and church. You will also be given a week where you will be able to travel around the country or go to South Africa.

Where would I be staying?
You will be living on the YWAM base which is 15km from the Beautiful Kidz centre and town. No private arrangements will be accepted. The premises are protected with an alarm system. You will have access to kitchen facilities and a washing machine.

Do I need to bring all my toiletries?
No, you will be able to buy everything in the shops including converters for your hairdryer or mobile phone.

Will there be access to the internet?
There are no internet facilities at the YWAM base, but it is possible to gain internet access via the local mobile phone service providers by using 3G and EDGE devices. There are also internet cafes in town where you can go on Saturdays.

Will I be able to use my electrical devices?
Namibia uses 220 Volt alternating current. Wall sockets and plugs are mostly three pegged - large, round pegs. Plug / socket addaptors can be bought in Windhoek.

Can I bring gifts for the children?
We ask that you do not bring gifts but if you would like to give something rather bring the money and then fulfull a need that you see here.

Are my evenings free?
You will be expected to attend one meeting per week in the evening. This is where staff and volunteer workers come together for spiritual input.

How much will a visa cost and do I need one for three months?
A visa will cost N$390 and you will pay this back to us once you have arrived. Yes you will need a visa for the three months that you will be volunteering here at Beautiful Kidz, the reason is the government sees this volunteering as work, so in order for you not to be deported we will apply for your work visa for three months.

Can I do my internship at Beautiful Kidz Namibia?
We unfortunately do not accept volunteers who want to complete their internship for their studies here at Beautiful Kidz Namibia.

1. Staff / Volunteer Application Form
This form must be completed when you are applying as staff/volunteer at Beautiful Kidz Namibia.
If there isn't sufficient space on the application form, please answer the questions on a separate sheet of paper.

2. Reference Forms
Please fill in your name on each of the three Confidential Reference Forms. Hand one to your pastor/minister, one to your most recent school leader or supervisor of YWAM and the other one to who knows you well e.g. employer, teacher, friend (not family). Ask them to complete the form and e-mail or post it directly to Beautiful Kidz Namibia. We must receive ALL of the reference forms BEFORE we will process your application.
If you have never been involved with YWAM please ask somebody else from your church to fill in one of the forms.

3. Financial Form
Please read carefully, complete and sign the Financial Form. Please note that signing this form commits you to payment of the fees as set out in the Financial Form.

4. Indemnity Form
Please read carefully, complete and sign the Indemnity Form.

5. Medical Form
Please read carefully, complete and sign the Medical Form.

6. Passport
You will need a passport valid for at least 6 months after your planned departure from Namibia.

7. Visa

It can take between two weeks to one month to obtain Visa's. Please complete your forms as soon as possible, so that we can start the application process here in Namibia. You can download the visa forms from our web site. Please also send copy of the page in your passport with your picture and information on. Please only download the visa forms once you have been notified that you have been accepted to volunteer.

8. Injections
Make sure you get all the injections mentioned in the medical form. This will also take a couple of weeks.
